TIGA COMPETES WITH JAGUARS AT SILVERSTONE

line

Lynx Chairman, John Mayston-Taylor was invited to experience Group C racing in an ex-Le Mans Tiga GC286.336/368 at this year’s Silverstone Historic Festival. The race featured a number of Jaguar prototype Group C and GTP cars.

The Tiga had not been run since Le Mans 1990 where it finished 29th overall in the gruelling 24 hour race and much of the time at Silverstone was spent ensuring reliability and learning about the car’s potential.

Following a number of small problems in practice, the car started in 27th position out of 35 entries for the two hour, two-driver race.

It was agreed that John would start the race and drive for a 55-minute first stint. Adjustments made to the car after qualifying greatly assisted in performance and driveability. This enabled John to hand the car over to owner Jim Graham in 9th position overall. The car finished the race in 9th position overall and second in class.

“It was a great experience and I can definitely see why this category of racing is becoming so popular”, enthused John after the race. It is planned for the car to compete in selected endurance races next year in Europe and the USA.
