GOODWOOD PRESS DAY
![]()
A special display of racing cars both old and new gathered at Goodwood House for the official Press Day for this year's Festival of Speed and Revival Meeting.
As part of the celebrations at the Festival of Speed, the Jaguar marque is being honoured with a display of significant competition cars through the years. An early competition XK120 right up to the current Jaguar Formula One car will be displayed, with a number of the cars competing in the hill climb itself.
Several historic Jaguars attended the Press Day including the Le Mans-winning C-Type of Duncan Hamilton, the experimental shortnose D-Type from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, as well an XJR9 and XJR11.
The ex-Kjell Qvale Lightweight E-Type was also in attendance and managed a couple of runs up the hill for the benefit of the many journalists who had braved the inclement weather for a sight of these magnificent competition cars.
Also in attendance was the historic Ecurie Ecosse Transporter, restored by Lynx in 1993 and proudly displaying a Lynx D-Type on board.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place at Goodwood Park during the weekend of 23rd to 25th June 2000.
