LIGHTWEIGHTS GATHER AT GOODWOOD

line

As a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Jaguar E-type, a number of significant competition examples were gathered together at this year’s Goodwood Revival Meeting during the weekend of 14 to 16 September. A parade around the circuit on the Saturday thrilled the crowds, as many of the cars had not been seen (or heard) in public for many years. Included in the display were nine of the original twelve factory Lightweight E-types.

For the one-hour two-driver RAC TT Celebration race a total of four Lightweights competed, with the ex-John Coombs example 4 WPD winning the exciting race. The very original ex-Cunningham team Lightweight (5114 WK) that competed in the 1963 Le Mans race finished in tenth place overall, driven by Jackie Oliver and Lynx Chairman, John Mayston-Taylor.
