LYNX TO CAMPAIGN TWO GT40S FOR LE MANS CLASSIC
![]()
Two original competition Ford GT40s will be campaigned by
Lynx Motors International at this year’s Le Mans Classic event during the
weekend of 24/25 July.
The Ex-Yamaha car (GT40P/1077) will be joined by GT40P/1083, which was originally sold to the CAI team in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in October 1969. During this time it was campaigned successfully on several occasions. In 1971 the car was then purchased by Brazilian racing driver Wilson Fittipaldi, who raced it intermittently but also used it as a road car. In 1982, 1083 was sold and shipped to the USA, where it was raced by George Stauffer in the historic series that year. The car is now still based in the US, where it is actively campaigned in historic racing by its owner, Archie Urciuoli.

Interestingly, 1077 and 1083 share the same technical build specification in being prepared to full 1968 works race specifications, with lightweight body panels and stage two ventilated discs. The cars will be event-prepared by Lynx and will be driven by John Mayston-Taylor and Archie Urciuoli respectively in Group 5.
Other entries in group 5 include several other GT40s, Porsche 906s and a 908, an Alfa Romeo T33, a Ferrari 512S and also a Porsche 917.
