THE LYNX LIGHTWEIGHT E-TYPE

line

One of the most evocative shapes in sports car design, the Lightweight E-type was the ultimate expression of the timeless Jaguar E-type shape.

The Jaguar Lightweight E-type was constructed solely with competition in mind. The twelve cars built by the factory were all aluminium-bodied with a unique specification aluminium dry-sumped 3.8 litre six-cylinder engine fitted with Lucas mechanical fuel injection. Originally built with four-speed gearboxes, most of the cars were later fitted with the ZF five-speed unit for endurance racing.

“The Lightweight is really a completely different car to any other competition E-type,” confirms John Mayston-Taylor, who has been actively involved with these cars for a number of years. “They are not only beautiful to behold, but are also fascinating from an engineering viewpoint. They offer the combination of long distance high performance touring together with excellent track credentials”.

The Lynx Lightweight E-type is hand-built to order, ensuring that the owner truly has a car constructed to his exact personal specifications and requirements.
