EX-QVALE LIGHTWEIGHT AT FESTIVAL OF SPEED
The ex-Kjell Qvale Jaguar Lightweight E-type (chassis no 850660) participated in the eighth annual Goodwood Festival of Speed event during the weekend of 23/25 June.
Having not been seen in public in the UK before, the car attracted a great deal of attention and provided much pleasure to the many thousands of enthusiasts attending the event.
Another of the original twelve all-aluminium Lightweights to make a rare public appearance was the Lindner-Nocker Low Drag Coupe car (chassis no 850662). Having been involved in an accident at Monthlery in 1964, Lynx carried out the rebuild of the car in 1982.
With John Mayston-Taylor at the wheel, the Lightweight recorded a very competitive time of 58.40 seconds.
"Although the hill is not an ideal environment for this type of car, it performed very well indeed", commented Mayston-Taylor. "It was marvellous for the crowds to hear the sound of a Lightweight at close quarters".
