Many vehicles with upgraded engines can be considerably improved by changing the differential ratio. Cars with non-overdrive gearboxes such as E-types benefit immensely from this modification especially when driven on motorways or similar fast roads. The fitting of a limited slip differential provides an enormous improvement in traction for those who use the performance and handling of their car to the maximum. These are frequent projects undertaken by our technicians.

Major engineering projects are also undertaken. Recent work for the Gearbox and Differential Department has included the fitting of a six speed manual gearbox and uprated drivetrain to a modified V12 E-Type. The rebuild of rare transmissions such as those from an Aston Martin DB4GT and SS100 Jaguar necessitated the construction of many new components. Older 6 and 12 cylinder Jaguars and Aston Martin V8s are considerably improved by the fitting of a modern overdrive 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption is dramatically reduced and high speed cruising becomes far less strained.
