As a fitting tribute to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the launch of the Jaguar E-type, a special thirty-minute two-driver race was held at Donington Park on Sunday 10th June, 2001. The race was sponsored by Lynx Motors International Ltd.

The race brought together a total of twenty-five examples grouped into five classes.

On a dry track, the qualifying session was closely fought with the best overall time of the two drivers taken for their grid position.

The race commenced with a rolling start and the driver changes began after ten minutes. During the second part of the race, a battle ensued for the lead, which ended after the leading pair left the track following contact.

This incident enabled the hard-charging Mike Adams to comfortably win the race.  Mike regularly competes in the Anglo-American Challenge with his E-type, having been introduced to E-type racing by Lynx some six years ago.

“I was closing in on the leaders and was looking forward to a dice, but fate intervened and instead I had a clear track,” commented Mike at the awards ceremony. “It was great to win and this race means so much being the 40th Anniversary and an all-E-type affair”.

Mike Adams and his co-driver Malcolm Hamilton were especially pleased to receive the Winner's Trophy – an original factory Jaguar Lightweight E-type piston mounted and engraved for the event.

Another significant E-type in the race was the Lynx Lightweight E-type driven by Barrie Williams and owner Dick Skipworth. The Lynx-built car constructed to original Lindner Nocker specification complete with wide angle cylinder head and throttle slide Lucas mechanical fuel injection finished in third place overall and first in class.
