The Lynx C-type

Lynx C-typeThe Jaguar C-type, or 120C as it was known by the factory, was developed from the XK120 road car and succeeded in winning the 1951 Le Mans race at its first attempt.  The C-type shows the purity of line and form in the classic sports-racing tradition, whilst also making for a very pleasurable touring car.

Each Lynx C-type is hand-built to order and is constructed to the original design with a tubular steel chassis and hand-wheeled aluminium body panels.  As you would expect, the front and rear suspension assemblies together with the rear axle configuration are manufactured to original specification. The Lynx-built engine can be either a 3.8 or 4.2 Jaguar XK unit with C-type specification cylinder head and even the correct C-type exhaust manifolds. 

Many of the details unique to the works cars can also be incorporated during the build process with body and trim colours personally selected by the owner.

The Lynx C-type combines the pleasure of driving one of the most beautiful sports racing cars of all time, with the Lynx build quality and fastidious attention to detail.

BODY: Hand-wheeled panels in 16swg aluminium alloy mounted on a tubular steel spaceframe chassis
INTERIOR: Original style bucket seats trimmed in Connolly hide with full harness racing seat belts.  A C-type dashboard is fitted with correct period instrumentation and original C-type steering wheel.  The transmission tunnel is trimmed in the correct Hardura trim

Lynx C-type engineBlueprinted 3.8 litre Jaguar in-line 6 cylinder DOHC XK unit with an option of 3.4 or 4.2 litre versions. Fitted with either twin 2" sand cast SU or triple Weber 45DCOE twin-choke carburettors on C-type inlet manifold, with Lynx-profiled camshafts, large valves etc. Standard maximum power: 285 bhp @ 5500 rpm

SUSPENSION:

Front: Independent wishbones with torsion bars, front anti-roll bar and Leda adjustable shock absorbers.

Rear: Live rear axle on trailing arms and transverse torsion bar with panhard rod.

STEERING:

High ratio rack & pinion - 2 1/4 turns lock to lock

BRAKES:

Front: Uprated solid discs with triple pot calipers.

Rear: Uprated solid discs with twin pot calipers. Option of drum brakes all round.

16 inch competition 60 spoke steel wires on splined single centre lock spinners
