THE LOUIS VUITTON CLASSIC AT THE HURLINGHAM CLUB
![]()
The weather obliged and the sun shone at the eleventh Louis Vuitton Classic at Londons Hurlingham Club on Saturday 3 June. As ever, there was a marvellous array of historically significant vehicles spanning over 90 years of the automobile.
In the 1950s sports car class, Lynx presented an extremely early alloy-bodied Jaguar XK120 (chassis no 660003) that had recently undergone a careful refurbishment in the Lynx workshops.
It was very well received by the expert panel of judges and much admired by the many thousands of guests attending this prestigious annual event.
Another car to attract a great deal of attention was a very original full-race Ford GT40 (chassis no P/1077). This car is a sister to the Gulf GT40s, being built to the same lightweight specification and was sold new to Yamaha for testing and research purposes. It has only competed in two races at the Japanese Suzuka circuit in 1970 and still has recorded less than 1,000 miles!
The car underwent a thorough rebuild at Lynx during the Winter and has been track -tested and set up for its return to competition at Laguna Seca in August at the Monterey Historics event. It will be driven at the event by Lynx chairman, John Mayston-Taylor.
For further information, please contact John Mayston-Taylor at Lynx or see Calendar of Events.
