BRNO SIX-HOURS VICTORY FOR BRITISH BMW M3

A BMW E36 M3 prepared by GTS Motorsport and driven by David Gooding, John Mayston-Taylor and Rory Passey scored an overall win in this year’s FIA six-hours of Brno.

With an entry of more than 70 cars including Porsche 911s, a Porsche GT3 and ten BMW M3s, the GTS Motorsport-entered car finished a lap ahead on the second-placed K&K Racing M3 from the Czech Republic.

In a field dominated by European teams, the GTS Motorsport-entered M3 was the sole British entry and as none of the drivers had driven together before and had not driven the car or the Brno circuit, a good result was hoped for but not expected.

The strategy decided by the team of long fuel and tyre stops assisted them in outrunning the faster-paced cars and with each driver taking two-hour stints in the race, which was run with the first half in daylight and the second half in the dark, the GTS-entered M3 managed to leapfrog a number of cars with the reduced number of pit stops it required.

The Winning Team

“This was a great win and quite unexpected, but all the better for it”, commented Tom Shephard of GTS Motorsport after the race. Please click here for the race results.
