EX-QVALE LIGHTWEIGHT TO BE AUCTIONED AT AMELIA ISLAND
![]()
This extremely
original car was found some five years ago in a Los Angeles garage where had
been stored for 35 years by its then owner Howard Gidovlenko, who had purchased
it from West Coast Jaguar importer Kjell Qvale when it was only six months’
old!
The third of the
twelve factory competition E-types, S850660 raced in the 1963 Sebring 12 hours
(where it finished 7th overall and first in class) and also at Laguna
Seca in June 1963. It was then retired from active competition and was sold to
Howard Gidovlenko with 2663 miles on the clock.
The car was discovered in his private garage in suburban Los Angeles by members of Mr Gidovlenko’s family following his death in February 1998.

Purchased at auction
in August 1998, the car was air freighted to England where it was
sympathetically restored by Lynx Motors International before returning to
compete at Sebring and Laguna Seca in 1999.
The Lightweight also
participated in last year's Pebble Beach Concours where it featured in the
Jaguar Racing Cars display.
