EX-YAMAHA GT40 AT GOODWOOD REVIVAL MEETING
The ex-Yamaha Ford
GT40 (chassis 1077) finished in 13th place overall in the
Whitsun Trophy Race at this year’s Goodwood Revival Meeting on Saturday 17
September.
Following
its participation in this year’s
Monterey Historics event at the Laguna Seca Raceway, 1077 returned by
air to the UK, where it was tested at Goodwood prior to the Revival Meeting
weekend.
1077
competed against six GT40s and other sports prototypes in the very competitive
Whitsun Trophy race at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit.
A total of 28 entries made for some very fast lap times and the winner of the race Sam Hancock, also in a Ford GT40, had the fastest lap of the meeting,1:23.720.
Running
in very original specification, 1077 ran faultlessly throughout the race and
finished in 13th place overall, recording a fastest lap of 1:30.630.
