line

The extremely original 1963 ex-Le Mans Briggs Cunningham Jaguar factory Lightweight E-type, ‘5114 WK’ competed in the star-studded RAC Tourist Trophy celebration race at the Goodwood Revival Meeting on Sunday 8 September.

Together with numerous AC Cobras, Ferraris and other competition E-types, the Cunningham car, driven by Jackie Oliver and John Mayston-Taylor qualified in 10th position and finished in a very creditable 9th place overall at the end of the hard-fought one- hour race.

“It is always a pleasure to drive such an historic car”, enthused Jackie Oliver after the race. “It is not as quick as some of the other cars, but it certainly handles very well indeed”.

The car, which is still competing with its original 1963 engine and five-speed ZF gearbox continues its 100% finishing record with recent events including last year’s Le Mans Legend race and the 2001 Goodwood Revival Meeting.
